Il Bric Ercea è un rilievo posto a sud di Bric Pianarella, facilmente raggiungibile dalla località di Monticello e di San Bernardino, presso Finale Ligure.Viene descritto il sito con i reperti litici, i rapporti con vicine strutture di analogo significato, con riferimenti a possibili interessamenti archeologici ed archeoastronomici. Segue una discussione sulle ipotesi di datazione e di utilizzo dei ritrovamenti.

Tracing prehistory

Again in 2014, from July 17 to August 7, Footsteps of Man organizes its annual archaeology field school at Paspardo. This area gives a great opportunity to archaeologists, scholars, students and enthusiasts. The project participants will learn to survey, clean, photograph, draw and catalogue the rock engravings. The program involves field research, documentation, tracing, guided visits and lectures. Infos, poster and photo-galleries here available.

Ibex hunting scene

The Ibexes Rock shows one of the most interesting Iron Age hunting scenes (VII-IV cent. BC) of the western Alps. At the same time it hosts the highest alpine Roman inscriptions (I sec. AD). Many similarities with the Camunnian engraved hunting scenes, while here the ibex takes the place of the deer [these notes are taken by the EuroPreArt (European Prehistoric Art) database, short photogallery added].

Nell’aprile del 2013 è stata danneggiata la Pera ‘dla Spina di Reano, una delle prime rocce a coppelle scoperte e pubblicate in italia, nel 1880. The Thorn Rock, one of the first cup-marked rocks ever published in Italy (1880) has been damaged in April 2013.

Issue 29 of TRACCE Online Rock Art Bulletin is dedicated to the research history of Mt. Bego, from its early “discovery” to the end of the 19th century, with the exception of Clarence Bicknell’s work. Two key points should be emphasized: the relationship with the development of paleethnology and the significance of British “cup-and-rings” studies. All early Mt. Bego authors virtually contribute to this issue since their papers are “served” online, not only as PDF files, but also as “flip-books”, giving in this way importance to sources and online e-book sharing since they provide a useful tool to all researchers interested in rock art studies, especially in this area of the Alps.
