Message....: IFRAO TElematic PErmanent E-mail CONference TEPEE-CON
Dear Colleague,
I am particularly pleased to inform you that IFRAO has set up a "Permanent
Telematic E-mail Conference" (IFRAO Tepee-Con) on Rock Art and Cognitive
Archaeology, so as to promote a wider and swifter worldwide debate among
those who study the most ancient signs produced by human intellect.
The onus of this new service to the international community will be
taken on by CeSMAP(Prehistoric Art Study Centre and Museum) in Pinerolo,
Italy, and AURA (Australian Rock Art Research Association) Caulfield
South, Australia. (IFRAO Resolution, Cochabamba, April, 1997).
The Conference will be co-ordinated by Robert G. Bednarik, AURA and
Dario Seglie, CeSMAP. Fabio Forneron is the CeSMAP- IFRAO Webmaster.
The format chosen for the IFRAO Tepee-Con is a Mailing list, to which
you may subscribe by going to the IFRAO.NET Website:
http://www.cesmap.it/ifrao/ifrao.html
The Conference will have these themes:
We hope that this venture will benefit from the important and valuable
contributions that you will send in and we are confident that it will
soon bring about a substantial progress in knowledge and science.
We would greatly appreciate if you could relay this letter on the web,
through the media, and through universities, research centres, schools
and museums in your area.
Awaiting your kind reply,
Yours sincerely, Dario Seglie

painted murals 4,000 years old have been discovered in the Pecos River
Valley of southwestern Texas and studied by historical archaeologist
Carolyn E. Boyd of Texas AM University for the past 8 years. Images
in the rock murals are linked to the Huichol Indians who survive today
only in the isolated peaks of the Sierra Madre mountains of Mexico.
Their preColombian culture has remained miraculously intact from the
time 40 centuries ago when their distant ancestors painted these rock
murals. "So Sings the Blue Deer" is a book based upon the true
experience of the Huicholes, their 600 mile pilgrimage from their
remote Sierra Mountains in an effort to save the Earth from
environmental destruction. The book offers insight into their cultural
traditions and beliefs and is based upon detailed reserach from earliest
contact with the Huichol Indians.

Boyd of Texas AM University. Images in the rock paintings have been linked to the Huichol Indian culture which survives now only high in the isolated Sierra Madre mountains of northwestern Mexico. The book, "So Sings the Blue Deer," is a novel based upon a true experience of the Huichol Indians, their 600 mile pilgrimage from their remote mountains in 1986 in an effort to save the Earth from environmental destruction. The book offers insight into the preColombian traditions of this fragile Huichol culture that has survived much in tact from the time their distant ancestors painted the Pecos rock art murals in the remote caves and valleys of southeastern Texas 40 centuries ago. |
